No. 39 Iowa Falls at Michigan State, 4-2

The 39th-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-2 decision to Michigan State on Friday night at the MSU Tennis Center.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The 39th-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-2 decision to Michigan State on Friday night at the MSU Tennis Center.

The Spartans (8-5, 1-2) opened the match by securing the doubles point. On court three, Amara Brahmbhatt and Nina Plihal defeated Emma Tothová and Pia Kranholdt 6-3. On court one, Ellie Blackford and Matilde Morais posted a 6-3 victory over No. 25 Daianne Hayashida and Mia Mack. The match on court two was left unfinished with Michigan State securing the point. Tereza Dejnozkova and Nikita Vishwase held a 6-5 lead over Oriana Parkins-Godwin and Issey Purser.
 
In singles play, Michigan State extended its lead to 2-0 on court two, with Brahmbhatt defeating Dejnozkova, 6-3, 6-4. 

Iowa responded on court one, where No. 87 Mack triumphed over No. 109 Blackford, 6-2, 6-3.

The Spartans followed with wins on courts five and three. At No. 5, Parkins-Godwin edged Kranholdt, 6-3, 7-5. On court three, Morais secured a 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 victory over Tothová.

On court six, Sally Xu added a 6-4, 7-5 win over Purser.

The match on court four was left unfinished with Michigan State clinching its fourth point. Vishwase led Plihal, 7-6(3), 4-4.
