MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The 20th-ranked University of Iowa women's gymnastics team closed the regular season with a second-place finish at the Minnesota Quad on Sunday afternoon inside Maturi Pavilion, posting a 196.475. The GymHawks finished the regular season 14-6 overall.
No. 13 Minnesota won the meet at 197.825, while Illinois placed third, scoring a 195.150. Northern Illinois rounded out the standings with a 191.400.
Freshman Sophie Schriever and fifth-year JerQuavia Henderson earned top-three finishes on vault. Schriever took second by posting a career-high 9.925, while Henderson shared third with a season-best 9.900. Senior Gianna Masella notched a career-high 9.925 to place third on bars, capping her final regular-season meet.
Schriever took second in the all-around with a 39.250, while sophomore Aurélie Tran followed in third at 39.200.
BEAM
The Hawkeyes opened the meet on beam with a score of 48.900. Schriever led the rotation by sticking her routine for a 9.875. Fifth-year Haley Tyson followed with a season-best 9.850, while freshman Maggie Ball added a 9.775.
Iowa sat in second place following the first rotation, trailing Minnesota, 49.450-48.900.
FLOOR
Iowa earned a 49.100 on floor, highlighted by freshman Stella DePaola’s career-high 9.850 in the anchor position. Tran and Turner contributed matching 9.825s, while Tyson and Henderson each posted 9.800. The Hawkeyes remained in second place at the halfway point, trailing Minnesota by 0.775.
VAULT
In the third rotation, Iowa posted a 49.275 to match its season-best vault score. The GymHawks were led by Schriever's 9.925, followed by Henderson with a season-best 9.900. Turner and Tran both contributed scores of 9.825, while DePaola matched her career-high with a 9.800. Senior Avery Chambers posted a 9.775 to round out the lineup.
The Hawkeyes remained in second place heading into the final rotation with a score of 147.275, trailing Minnesota (148.275) while leading Illinois (146.375) and Northern Illinois (143.350).
BARS
Iowa closed the afternoon on bars with a 49.200 marking the seventh consecutive week the Hawkeyes have posted a score above 49.000. Masella led the GymHawks with a career-high 9.925, followed by Tran with a 9.850. Schriever added a 9.825, while Turner and freshman Daisy Bowles contributed matching scores of 9.800. Henderson rounded out the rotation by sticking her landing for a 9.775.
