Hawkeyes Conclude 2 Rounds at Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Iowa men’s golf team completed the first two rounds of the Duck Invitational on Monday at Eugene Country Club, sitting in ninth place heading into the final round.

The Hawkeyes opened the day at 18-over-par in round one before bouncing back with a one-over-par team score in round two. All five Hawkeyes in the lineup improved their scores from the opening round to the second.

Iowa was led by sophomore Ryan Shellberg, who is tied for 14th at one-over-par through 36 holes. Shellberg opened with a 72 in round one before carding an even-par 71 in round two.

Redshirt freshman Grant Gudgel is tied for 19th at two-over-par after rounds of 74 and 70. Gudgel’s second round featured a bogey-free front nine and included a birdie on the back nine.

Redshirt freshman Jack McCarty sits at eight-over for the tournament after posting rounds of 78 and 72, while junior Max Tjoa is at nine-over through two rounds with scores of 79 and 72.

Freshman Bennett Warren is 13-over after rounds of 78 and 77. Sophomore Chance Rinkol competed individually and stands at eight-over following rounds of 74 and 76.
