Hawkeyes Close Play at Colleton River Collegiate

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The University of Iowa men’s golf team wrapped up the final round of the Colleton River Collegiate on Monday at Colleton River Club, finishing the tournament at 11-over-par.

The Hawkeyes were led in the third round by redshirt freshman Grant Gudgel, who carded a one-over 73. Gudgel recorded three birdies on the day and finished the weekend at one-under overall, placing 15th.

Junior Max Tjoa posted a three-over 75 in the final round, highlighted by two birdies on the back nine. Tjoa closed the tournament at one-over-par to tie for 28th.

Redshirt freshman Jack McCarty turned in a six-over 78 in the final round, recording two birdies. He concluded the tournament at 11-over overall.

Sophomore Ryan Shellberg added a seven-over 79 on Monday, tallying three birdies in the round. Shellberg finished even on the weekend, tying for 19th.

Sophomore Chance Rinkol also carded a seven-over 79, adding two birdies to finish the weekend at 16-over-par.

Freshman Bennett Warren, competing as an individual, fired a two-over 74 in the final round with two birdies on the front nine. Warren finished the tournament at six-over-par.

Iowa finished ahead of Big Ten opponent Indiana in the final team standings.

The Hawkeyes will travel to Eugene, Oregon, to compete in the Dunk Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon. The 54-hole tournament will begin on March 23 and conclude on March 24.
