Hawkeyes Earn One of Four Big Ten Boats of the Week Honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa’s Varsity Eight was named to the Big Ten Boats of the Week on Tuesday after finishing sixth at the Sarasota 2K last weekend at Nathan Benderson Park in Florida.

This honor marks the 20th time in school history a boat has been tabbed as the Big Ten’s best of the week. This is the first weekly honor for the Hawkeyes since April 15, 2025.

The Hawkeyes finished second behind No. 12 UCF in the opening heat to advance to the grand final on Saturday. On Saturday, Iowa raced against four top-25 opponents and finished sixth overall beating their seed and finishing fifth as a team.

Iowa competed both races with the lineup of: Carissa Cochico (cox), Sophia Foreman, Ella Grove, Poppy Brooke Turner, Beatrix Hearn, Leah Nawrot, Andy Mills, Scarlett Maleham, Mia Lawrence.
