Notes: GymHawks Host Senior Night Quad Meet

The 19th-ranked University of Iowa gymnastics team hosts a quad meet against Central Michigan, Southeast Missouri, Northern Illinois on Friday. Action begins inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 6 p.m. (CT). Iowa will honor its six seniors in a post-meet ceremony.

THIS WEEK
The 19th-ranked University of Iowa gymnastics team hosts a quad meet against Central Michigan, Southeast Missouri and Northern Illinois on Friday. Action begins inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 6 p.m. (CT). Iowa will honor its six seniors in a post-meet ceremony. Tickets are available for $15 (adults) and free (youth).

NOTABLES  

  • The seniors that will be recognized include Hanna Castillo, Avery Chambers, Emily Erb,  Gianna Masella, Karina Muñoz and Kaia Vanney.  Fifth-year seniors JerQuavia Henderson, Marissa Rojas and Haley Tyson will also be honored. 
  • The Hawkeyes finished the Big Ten Regular season with a 6-3 record, finishing fourth overall. Improving from a 5-4 record in 2025 where the GymHawks finished fifth. 

    LAST TIME OUT
  • Iowa finished second at the Big Four Meet with a 196.475, falling short to No. 5 UCLA and defeating No. 19 Ohio State and No. 25 Maryland.
  • Sophomore Aurélie Tran earned a share of the bars title with a 9.900.
  • Fifth-year JerQuavia Henderson tied for second on floor with a 9.900, and sophomore Sydney Turner delivered a 9.875 on beam to take third.
  • Two GymHawks rounded out the top three in the all-around. Freshman Sophie Schriever clinched second with a 39.300, followed by Tran’s 39.275 for third. 

IN THE RANKINGS

  •  Iowa enters the week as the 19th-ranked team in the nation with an NQS score of 196.436.
  • The Hawkeyes rank No. 12 on bars (49.221), No. 18 on vault (49.068), No. 21 on beam (49.014) and No. 22 on floor (49.161).
  • Aurélie Tran ranks 11th nationally in the all-around (39.400) and fourth in the Big Ten. Tran also ranks 15th nationally and third in the conference on bars (9.910).
  • Sophie Schriever ranks 17th nationally in the all-around (39.345) and eighth in the Big Ten. 

SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN

  • Central Michigan enters the meet with a 10-1 overall record and 5-0 in conference competition.
  • The Chippewas lead the MAC with two meets left in the season.

SCOUTING SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

  • SEMO enters the meet with a 10-16 overall record and 2-3 in conference competition.
  • The Redhawks are coming off a four-meet win streak.

SCOUTING NORTHERN ILLINOIS 

  • Northern Illinois enters the meet with a 5-13 overall record and 2-4 in conference competition.
  • The Huskies set a season-high on floor (49.050) in their last meet against Central Michigan.

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS

  • Iowa set a program team record with a 197.225 against Nebraska.
  • The Hawkeyes set a new program record with on bars with a  49.450 (vs. Penn State) and tied eighth-best in program history with a 49.325 (at Rutgers).
  • On floor, the Hawkeyes tied for sixth best score in program history with a 49.475. (vs. Penn State).
  • Daisy Bowles T-2nd - 9.950- Uneven Bars
  • Aurélie Tran T -8th- 9.925 - Uneven Bars
  • Sophie Schriever  T-8th - 9.925 - Uneven Bars
  • Aurélie Tran T-11th - 9.925 - All-Around

O’ CANADA!

  • The Hawkeyes have three Canadians on the roster for 2026, including three 2024 Olympians in sophomores Aurélie Tran, Cassie Lee, and Sydney Turner.
  • Tran leads the team with 12 event titles (4x all-around, 4x bars, 3x vault, 1x beam)
  • After competing in the all-around at every meet, Tran earned Iowa’s female Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
  • Turner has four event titles (3x beam and 1x floor) and was tabbed a Big Ten Gymnast to Watch.

SENSATIONAL SCHRIEVER

  • Sophie Schriever is the only freshman to compete in the all-around for the Hawkeyes, posting a career-high 39.475 (vs. Nebraska).
  • The newcomer has captured five titles (2x all-around, 1x on bars, 1x beam and 1x vault).

HOME SWEET CARVER

  • Against Nebraska (2/7) the Hawkeyes set a new attendance record, 4,100.
  • The GymHawks host every meet at Carver-Hawkeye Arena this season.
