The University of Iowa women’s golf team travels to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the Wachesaw Shootout on March 9–10. The 36-hole tournament will be played at Wachesaw Plantation Club (par 72, 6,889 yards) and begins Monday with a 7 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup includes senior Riley Lewis, junior Ximena Benites, junior Maura Peters, senior Kaitlyn Hanna, sophmore Lily Huether, and freshman Sunny Wang will be playing as an individual.
THE FIELD
The 7-team field includes: Augusta, Coastal Carolina, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
THE COURSE
Wachesaw Plantation Club is known as one of the top private golf clubs in Myrtle Beach, offering a beautiful Lowcountry setting and a well-designed course. The course was designed by Tom Fazio and features tree-lined fairways, views of the Waccamaw River, and well-kept greens. It provides a solid challenge for golfers of all skill levels while still being enjoyable to play. With quality facilities and a strong history of competitive events, Wachesaw Plantation Club continues to be a respected place for both amateur and college tournaments.
LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes finished 15th at the Spartan Sun Coast Collegiate, recording a three-round total of 924 (306–325–293) over 54 holes.
Senior Riley Lewis led the team, tying for 23rd with a 54-hole total of 225 (74–78–73). She recorded 10 birdies over the first two rounds and added three birdies and 11 pars in the final round to post a 1-over-par 73, moving up one spot on the leaderboard.
Junior Ximena Benites posted a 54-hole total of 229 (77–79–73) to finish tied for 34th. She tallied 12 pars in the opening round and 10 in the second before closing with a 1-under-par 73, carding three birdies and 10 pars to move up eight spots on the final day.
OF NOTE…
• Senior Riley Lewis earned a career-best eighth-place finish after carding rounds of 68–69–74 for a 54-hole total of 211 to open her spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic.
• Junior Maura Peters led Iowa with an even-par 72 in the final round of the Spartan Sun Coast Collegiate.
• Senior Riley Lewis and freshman Sunny Wang both captured top-20 finishes at the Diane Thomason Invitational.
• Junior Ximena Benites paced the team at the Boilermaker Classic, finishing tied for 18th with a 54-hole total of 221 (69–78–74), including a career-tying 3-under-par 69 in the opening round during the fall season.
• Sophomore Lily Huether will make her 2026 Hawkeye debut as she travels with the team to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the Wachesaw Shootout.
