No. 46 Iowa Falls at No. 29 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – The 46th-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 29 Wisconsin (16-6, 9-4) Sunday in the Big Ten regular season finale at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Wisconsin opened the match by securing the highly contested doubles point. At No. 2, Ellison Reynoldson and Kaja Jacobson defeated Daianne Hayashida and Sally Xu, 6-4. On court one, Maria Sholokhova and Ekaterina Ivanova clinched the point with a 6-4 victory over Mia Mack and Tereza Dejnozkova.

The remaining match on court three was left unfinished, with Nikita Vishwase and Pia Kranholdt leading Tianna Rangan and Kaede Usui, 5-4.

In singles action, No. 17 Sholokhova led No. 67 Mack, 3-0, before Iowa retired the match due to injury, extending the Badgers lead to two.

Iowa earned its lone point on court four, where Vishwase defeated Reynoldson, 6-1, 6-1.

The Badgers extended its lead on court five, with Usui adding a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kranholdt. Wisconsin clinched the match on court two when No. 66 Ivanova edged Dejnozkova, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.

The remaining singles matches were left unfinished. Hayashida led Rangan 3-6, 7-6(4) 1-0, on court three, while Xu was battling Jacobson, 6-4, 3-6, 4-4 at No. 6.
