Notes: Western Illinois and UIC

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes Western Illinois on Tuesday and the University of Illinois Chicago on Wednesday to Duane Banks Field for midweek matchups. First pitch is scheduled for 6:02 p.m., and admission is $5 for both games.

The Hawkeyes enter the contest with a 21–16 record, while the Leathernecks sit at 11–26 and the Flames are 15–21–1 overall.

The Leathernecks are hitting .272 as a team, led by Liam Bushey, who is batting .331 with 11 home runs, while Isaiah Monge leads the team with 11 doubles. On the mound, Western Illinois has a 7.08 team ERA. Opponents are hitting .303 against the Leathernecks. 

The Flames are hitting .272 as a team and are led by Ashton Kampa, who is batting .351 with a .649 slugging percentage. Jake Busson leads the team with 12 home runs. On the mound, UIC has a 6.57 team ERA, with opponents are hitting .290 against the Flames. 

Iowa is batting .312 as a team, with 292 runs scored. Gable Mitchell leads the team with a .389 average, 58 hits, 90 total bases, and 44 runs scored. Caleb Wulf is hitting .376 with 56 hits and a team high 33 RBIs. Mitchell and Kooper Schulte each have five home runs to lead the offense.

Through seven midweek games Iowa is batting .452 as a team with 31 doubles, 10 home runs, and six triples. The Hawkeyes are 12-14 in stolen base attempts.
