IOWA CITY, Iowa – The 46th-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team swept UNI in its regular season finale on Tuesday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
The Hawkeyes (12-13) opened the match by securing the doubles point. At No. 3, Nikita Vishwase and Pia Kranholdt made quick work of Andrea Noa Galin and Kayla Santosa, 6-0. The point was clinched on court one, where Daianne Hayashida and Sally Xu defeated Lucia Schuknecht and Andjela Raznatovic, 6-1.
The remaining match on court two was left unfinished, with Iowa clinching the point. Tereza Dejnozkova and Eline Bex led Abbie Peterson and Yangjiaxin Li, 4-2.
In singles play, Iowa added three straight-set victories. On court one, Dejnozkova claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Raznatovic. Xu followed on court five, defeating Peterson, 6-1, 6-1 and Hayashida clinched the victory with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Schuknecht.
The remaining matches were left unfinished, with Iowa clinching its fourth point of the match. At No. 3, Vishwase led Li, 6-2, 3-1. On court four, Kranholdt was ahead of Noa Galin, 6-0, 5-2, and Bex led Santosa, 6-2, 3-0on court six.
