IOWA CITY, Iowa — Senior Kooper Schulte has been named a semifinalist for the 2026 Brooks Wallace Award, as announced by the College Baseball Foundation on Wednesday.
The award honors the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented later this year. It is named after former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977–80 before passing away from leukemia at the age of 27.
Schulte has started all 38 games this season at shortstop for the Hawkeyes. In 145 at-bats, the New London, Iowa, native has recorded 44 hits, including 14 doubles and six home runs, while driving in 30 RBIs. Defensively, Schulte has totaled 48 putouts and 99 assists and owns a .980 fielding percentage.
Schulte is one of 50 of the nation’s top shortstops named semifinalists for the 2026 Brooks Wallace Award by the College Baseball Foundation. Selections are based on both offensive and defensive production throughout the season.
Former Hawkeye Nick Roscetti was a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award in 2016.
The Hawkeyes return to action tonight at 6 p.m. for their second midweek matchup of the week against UIC before traveling to Indiana for a Big Ten series this weekend.
