IOWA CITY, Iowa – Saint Mary’s College transfer Andrew McKeever has signed a scholarship agreement with the University of Iowa men’s basketball program, it was announced Friday by head coach Ben McCollum. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
“We identified Andrew as a perfect fit for our program,” said McCollum. “With his size, Andrew is a very productive rebounder, both on the offensive and defensive glass. Offensively, Andrew is great in ball screen roll actions, and he is an elite passer. We’re excited Andrew is a Hawkeye.”
The 7-foot-3, 285-pound McKeever will be the tallest player in Iowa men’s basketball history (Antonio Ramos, 7-2). He will be Iowa’s first seven-footer since Adam Woodbury, who played for the Hawkeyes from 2012-16.
“I chose the University of Iowa because I wanted to go to a program where I was going to be pushed to be my best self on and off the court,” said McKeever. “Coach McCollum’s player development and offense is unmatched for a player like me trying to get to the next level.
“I am looking forward to playing in front of a fan base that is unlike anything I have been a part of. I am looking forward to the upcoming season.”
McKeever is the second transfer and fourth player overall to sign with the program for the 2026-27 season, joining Illinois State transfer Ty’Reek Coleman (Aurora, Illinois) and incoming freshmen Ethan Harris (Camas, Washington) and Jaidyn Coon (Storm Lake, Iowa).
