CORVALLIS, Ore. — The University of Iowa gymnastics team closed its season at the NCAA Regionals in Corvallis, Oregon, finishing third in Session II with a team score of 196.750. The GymHawks competed against No. 4 UCLA, No. 13 Minnesota and Washington, delivering strong performances across all four events.
No. 4 UCLA took first place with a 197.450, followed by No. 13 Minnesota at 196.975. Washington finished fourth with a 195.850.
Sophomore Aurélie Tran led the Hawkeyes with a 39.450 in the all-around. She earned a 10.0 on bars in Iowa’s first rotation, marking the first perfect score on bars in program history.
BARS
Iowa began on bars, posting a program-record 49.575 behind a 9.850 from fifth-year JerQuavia Henderson and a 9.875 from senior Gianna Masella. Sophomore Sydney Turner added a 9.950, marking the third consecutive stuck routine. Freshman Sophie Schriever contributed a 9.900 before Tran anchored the rotation with a 10.0, pushing Iowa into first place after the opening event.
BEAM
The GymHawks moved to beam in the second rotation and scored a 48.975. Schriever and Turner led the lineup with matching 9.875s, while fifth-year Marissa Rojas added a 9.800. Fifth-year Haley Tyson posted a 9.700, and Tran followed with a 9.725. Iowa sat in second place at the halfway point with a 98.550, trailing UCLA by 0.025.
FLOOR
Iowa posted a 49.150 on floor in the third rotation, opening with a 9.875 from Tran and a 9.725 from junior Alyse Karenbauer. Henderson led the team with a 9.900, and freshman Stella DePaola closed the rotation with a 9.850, keeping Iowa in second place heading into the final event.
VAULT
The GymHawks closed the meet on vault with a 49.050. Tran scored a team-best 9.850, while Turner added a 9.825. Henderson and Schriever each posted 9.800s, and DePaola finished with a 9.775.
