IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa RHP/IF Kyle Alivo has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The Franklin, Wisconsin, native earns his first career weekly honor.
Alivo threw five innings of relief in Iowa’s win over Purdue last Friday to earn the save. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out a career-high nine batters.
Iowa returns to action Tuesday in Omaha, Nebraska, as the No. 8 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The Hawkeyes open play against No. 9 seed Illinois. First pitch is scheduled for 1:02 p.m. (CT).
