Leah Zellner Named Assistant Coach

University of Iowa graduate Leah Zellner has been named an assistant coach with the field hockey program, head coach Lisa Cellucci announced Tuesday.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa graduate Leah Zellner has been named an assistant coach with the field hockey program, head coach Lisa Cellucci announced Tuesday.

Zellner returns to Iowa City after playing at Grant Field from 2018-22. The Emmaus, Pennsylvania, native was part of 72 Hawkeye victories and helped lead Iowa to two Big Ten regular-season championships (2019, 2021), a Big Ten Tournament title (2019), four Elite Eight appearances and a Final Four berth in 2020.

During her five-year Hawkeye career, Zellner played in 96 games with 70 starts, recording 15 goals and 10 assists. She tallied six game-winning goals.

Following her collegiate career, Zellner joined Indiana as an assistant coach, where she has been since 2023. During her tenure in Bloomington, she helped coach five NFHCA All-Region selections, 10 All-Big Ten honorees, 42 Academic All-Big Ten selections and 2024 NFHCA All-American Inés Garcia Prado.
