Notes: St. Thomas

The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes St. Thomas to Duane Banks Field on Tuesday for a midweek matchup and its final home contest of the year.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes St. Thomas to Duane Banks Field on Tuesday for a midweek matchup and its final home contest of the year. First pitch is scheduled for 6:02 p.m. and admission is $5.

The Hawkeyes enter the contest with a 28-18 record, while the Tommie's sit at 9-33 on the season. Iowa defeated St. Thomas 7-2 on March 10. 

St. Thomas is hitting .271 as a team. The Tommies are led offensively by Owen Bond, who is batting .362 with 47 hits. Tanner Recchio follows with a .304 average and 11 doubles. On the mound, St. Thomas has a 7.97 ERA, with opponents hitting .292.

Iowa is hitting .309 as a team and has scored 371 runs this season. Gable Mitchell leads the Hawkeyes with a .388 batting average, totaling 73 hits and 14 doubles. Kooper Schulte and Mitch Wood pace the team with six home runs each, while Caleb Wulf is batting .360 with 67 hits and 12 doubles. Wulf and Mitchell are tied for the team lead with 40 RBIs each.

Through ten midweek games Iowa is batting .422 as a team with 39 doubles, 15 home runs, and six triples. The Hawkeyes are 16-for-19 in stolen base attempts.
