IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sophomore Ava Heiden and sophomore transfer Dani Carnegie have been invited and will participate in the USA Basketball 3x3 Development Camp and Showcase in Phoenix, it was announced Tuesday by USA Basketball. Heiden and Carnegie will make their USA Basketball debuts.
The USA Basketball 3x3 women’s development camp will be held May 6-8. USA Basketball 3x3 development camps are an opportunity for athletes to hone their skills in a competitive and educational environment. The camp is highlighted by under-23 women’s athletes.
Heiden had a breakout sophomore campaign, leading all Power Four players in points per game and ranking third nationally. She scored in double figures against all 17 Big Ten opponents and finished with 612 points (third all-time by an Iowa sophomore). She earned AP/USBWA All-America Honorable Mention and first-team All-Big Ten accolades from both coaches and media.
Carnegie, who will join the Hawkeyes next season, was named first-team All-SEC in her sophomore season with the Georgia Bulldogs and averaged 33.4 minutes, 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Carnegie was the ACC Sixth Player of the Year in 2024 with the Yellow Jackets and an All-ACC Freshman Team choice.
Nine athletes will participate in a 3x3 development camp May 5-11 in Phoenix. Participants will be considered for future USA 3x3 national team and other 3x3 team opportunities. Also expected to participate in the development camp are Imari Berry, Mikayla Blakes, Mara Braun, Nyla Brooks, Katie Fiso, ZaKiyah Johnson and Tori McKinney.
