Iowa added 67 points after spring competition to its fall (152) and winter (443) totals. Women’s outdoor track & field contributed 51 points, while men’s outdoor track & field posted 26 points. This season marks the fifth time in the 32-year history of the Directors’ Cup that the UI eclipsed 500 total points.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup is a program that honors institutions maintaining broad-based intercollegiate athletics programs. Introduced for Division I programs in 1993-94 by the National Association of College Directors of Athletics and USA Today, it was expanded in 1995-96 to include NCAA Division II and III, as well as the NAIA. Each NCAA Division I institution is awarded points based on its performances in NCAA championship competition by up to 20 teams, 10 men’s and 10 women’s. The overall champion is the institution that records the highest cumulative point total.
