Iowa Releases 2026-27 Schedule

The University of Iowa women’s golf team will serve as the host institution for two tournaments during the 2026-27 season, it was announced Monday by head coach Megan Menzel.

With the course renovation underway at Finkbine Golf Course, the Hawkeyes will host the Diane Thomason Invitational at the Davenport Country Club on Sept. 28-29. 

During the spring, Iowa will host the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, at El Tigre Golf and Country Club.  It will be the second time the program has hosted the event and the first since 2019. 

Iowa was slated to host the tournament in 2022, but it was cancelled due to the on-going precautions with the COVID-19 pandemic. 

SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Hawkeyes will open the fall season on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at the Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette, Ind.
  • Iowa has won the last two Diane Thomason Invitationals, winning the tournament in 2024 and 2025.
  • The Hawkeyes’ second-to-last fall tournament will be at the Illinois Women’s Invitational at Medinah. The event will be played on Course 2 at the venue.
  • Iowa will open the spring season in Puerto Rico, playing at the Purdue “Tropical” Classic in Rio Grande.
  • The Hawkeyes will also play events in Florida (Spartan Suncoast Collegiate), Arizona (Mountain View Collegiate) and Kentucky (Old Stone Collegiate) prior to the postseason.
  • The 2027 Big Ten Championships will be held from April 24-26 in Nemacolin, Pa.

The Hawkeyes return five letterwinners from the 2025-26 roster, including Ximena Benites and Maura Peters, who had the top two scoring averages on the team.
