IOWA CITY, Iowa – For the third year in a row, the University of Iowa volleyball program received the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the organization announced on Thursday.
Volleyball programs from across the country continue to demonstrate widespread success off the court as 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award by maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
“It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season,” said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. “We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs.”
The program has earned this recognition four times, including three years in a row. Iowa was first recognized with the Team Academic Award in 2014.
The Hawkeyes will host their annual Black & Gold Scrimmage on Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. (CT) at Xtream Arena. Iowa opens its season at the Black Knight Invitational at West Point, N.Y., on Aug. 28. Season tickets for home matches are available now on hawkeyesports.com.
