Hawkeyes Set for Black & Gold Scrimmage

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa volleyball will host its annual Black and Gold Scrimmage at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Xtream Arena in Coralville. Admission is free and the match is open to the public.

Following the scrimmage, the team will hold an autograph session and kids’ clinic. The kids’ clinic is open for sixth graders and younger.

Fans can purchase tickets for the 2026 regular season by visiting the Tickets tab on the Volleyball page on hawkeyesports.com. Single-game and season tickets are available. General admission season tickets are $55 for adults and $35 for youth. Reserved seating is available for purchase in 2026.

• Head Coach Jim Barnes is two wins away from 500 in his career.
• The Hawkeyes return 13 members of their 2025 team that won 15 matches.
• Iowa welcomes transfers Liv Mogridge (middle hitter | Georgia Tech) and Ksenija Tomic (outside hitter | Oregon) to the program.
• Second-year Carmel Vares is Iowa’s returning kills leader.
• Fourth-year Hannah Whittingstall returns as Iowa's single-season blocks leader. She also was third on the team in kills a season ago.
• Third-year setter Jenna Meitzler takes over the position with 757 assists in her career.
• First-year setter Nikolija Bulatovic and libero Henlee Moszkowicz joined the team in the spring.

2026 Schedule Notes

• Iowa opens its season in New York at the Black Knight Invitational at West Point on Aug. 28.
• The Hawkeyes travel to Starkville, Mississippi, for the B1G/SEC Challenge Sept. 3-4. Iowa will play Mississippi State and Alabama.
• The team’s home opener is Thursday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. against Southern Illinois.
• Big Ten play opens on Sept. 25 against Ohio State.
• The Big Ten Conference will hold the inaugural Big Ten Conference Tournament in Fishers, Indiana, from Nov. 20-25. The top 15 teams from the regular season will qualify for the tournament.
