IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa cross country runners Hillary Trainor and Miles Wilson were selected as the program’s Big Ten Cross Country Runners to Watch, it was announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Trainor, a third-year from Sumner, Iowa, begins her third collegiate season as a leader for the women’s team. As a two-time letterwinner, Trainor has scored in 10 of 12 races throughout her career.
Trainor competed in all six races last season, crossing the finish line second among Hawkeye runners in four of those races. She also set three personal bests last season: 14:17.0 in the 4,000 meters, 17:10.0 in the 5,000 meters and 21:05.5 in the 6,000 meters.
Wilson returns for his fourth season with the Hawkeyes this fall. A three-time letterwinner from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the top Hawkeye finisher at the Joe Piane Invite last season, running a season-best 24:01.6 (8,000 meters).
Wilson was Iowa’s top finisher at both the 2024 B1G Championships and 2024 NCAA Midwest Regional. He set personal records in both races, clocking a 23:54.5 in the 8,000 meters and 30:42.6 in the 10,000 meters.
Iowa cross country begins its 2026 season at the Hawkeye Invite on Sept. 4 at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City.
