3 Hawkeyes Named 2026 Big Ten Players to Watch

Three University of Iowa women’s soccer student-athletes – fourth-years Sofia Bush and Millie Greer and second-year Elle Wildman – have been named Big Ten Players to Watch for the 2026 season, the announcement was made Monday by the Big Ten office.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Three University of Iowa women’s soccer student-athletes – fourth-years Sofia Bush and Millie Greer and second-year Elle Wildman – have been named Big Ten Players to Watch for the 2026 season, the announcement was made Monday by the Big Ten office.

This marks the third consecutive season that Bush and Greer have been named to the preseason Big Ten watch list.

Greer was a mainstay on a Hawkeye defense that posted 10 shutouts a season ago.  She started all 21 games and played 90+ minutes in 19 contests, while finding the back of the net three times. The Scottsdale, Arizona, native was a second-team All-Big Ten and a United Soccer Coaches All-North Region selection.

Bush started 20 games, logging 1,749 minutes and playing 90+ minutes nine times. The Marion, Iowa,native tallied six assists on the season, which included a two assist performance against No. 6 Arkansas. The midfielder capped her season by receiving second-team All-Big Ten and United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Team honors.

Wildman scored two goals and tallied four assists during her first season of collegiate soccer.  The midfielder started 17 games and logged 1,189 minutes on the year and she was a Big Ten All-Freshman team honoree.

The Hawkeyes were picked to finish 10th in a vote of the league’s head coaches.  Michigan State, UCLA, Washington, Wisconsin and Ohio State occupied the first five spots in the preseason poll.

Iowa returns 7 starters and 17 letterwinners from a team that won 12 games during the 2025 season. The Hawkeyes are entering the first year of the Dean Ward era.
