Hawkeyes Complete Opening Day at Boilermaker Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team sits in 11th place following the opening two rounds of the Boilermaker Classic on Monday at the Kampen-Cosler Course.

The Hawkeyes posted rounds of 300 and 308 for a 36-hole total of 608 (+32).

Sunny Wang leads Iowa through two rounds, sitting in a tie for 32nd place with a 151 (+7). Wang opened the tournament with a 74 (+2) before carding a 77 (+5) in the second round.

Paige Giovenco is one stroke behind Wang in her Hawkeye debut, sitting in a tie for 36th at 152 (+8). The Sellersburg, Ind., native opened with a 74 (+2) before shooting a 78 (+6) in round two.

Maura Peters and Ximena Benites are tied for 49th with matching 36-hole totals of 154 (+10). Peters carded rounds of 75 and 79, while Benites posted back-to-back rounds of 77.

Eva Kristinsdottir improved by four strokes in the second round, firing a 76 (+4) after opening with an 80. She is tied for 57th at 156 (+12).

Maria Moczarska, competing as an individual in her Hawkeye debut, is also tied for 57th after rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156 (+12).

Miami leads the 16-team field with an even-par 576 (282-294), while Miami’s Barbora Bujáková and North Florida’s Kaitlyn Schroeder share the individual lead at 4-under-par 140.
