Hawkeyes 4th After Opening Round at Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team carded a 1-over-par 289 during the opening round of the Badger Invitational on Sunday at University Ridge Golf Course, finishing the day in fourth place.

The Hawkeyes had two players finish under par, led by Eva Kristinsdottir, who fired a 3-under-par 69 to sit tied for second individually.

Kristinsdottir recorded five birdies during the opening round and played the par-5 holes at 3-under.

Sunny Wang also finished under par, carding a 1-under-par 71 to sit tied for 10th. Wang recorded five birdies and played the par-3 holes at 3-under.

Maura Peters carded a 1-over-par 73 and is tied for 23rd place.

Lily Huether, competing as an individual, matched Peters with a 73 and is also tied for 23rd. Huether played the par-4 holes at 2-under and recorded an eagle during the opening round.

Ximena Benites carded a 4-over-par 76 and is tied for 51st, while Paige Giovenco finished with an 11-over-par 83.

Iowa recorded 14 birdies during the opening round.

Due to the possibility of inclement weather Tuesday, the Badger Invitational will play 27 holes Monday at University Ridge Golf Course. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. (CT), with golfers teeing off from the first and 10th tees. The remaining nine holes are scheduled for Tuesday morning.
