Big Ten Releases 2027 Conference Schedule

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Big Ten Conference and the University of Iowa announced the 2027 conference softball schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hawkeyes are coming off their first season under head coach Stacy May-Johnson, posting a 27-27 overall record with a 7-17 mark in Big Ten play. The 2026 Hawkeye offense ranked among the most productive in program history, hitting 56 home runs — its highest total since 2005 (61) — and scoring 291 runs, the team’s most since 1997 (389).

The 2027 conference slate features three 2026 NCAA Tournament teams in UCLA, Nebraska, and Michigan. Nebraska and UCLA both advanced to the 2026 Women’s College World Series.

Iowa opens conference play on the road with a three-game series at UCLA on March 19-21. The Hawkeyes last faced the Bruins at home in 2025, splitting a two-game series against then No. 5 UCLA.

2027 SCHEDULE NOTES
– The Hawkeyes will play consecutive home series at Pearl Field to open Big Ten home action, hosting Maryland (March 26-28) and Nebraska (April 2-4).
– Iowa swept Maryland in three games in 2025, evening the all-time series between the programs at 12-12. 
– Iowa leads the all-time series against Penn State 49-22, claiming five of the last six meetings against the Nittany Lions.
– Minnesota is Iowa’s most-played opponent in program history, with 133 all-time contests between the Hawkeyes and Golden Gophers.
– Iowa closes out the regular season on the road at Northwestern, May 7-9. 
– Rhonda Revelle Field at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska, will host the 2027 Big Ten Softball Tournament, scheduled for May 12-15. The top 12 teams in the final conference standings will qualify.
