Iowa Releases Complete 2026-27 Schedule

The University of Iowa men’s basketball team released its complete 2026-27 schedule Wednesday. The Hawkeyes’ 20-game Big Ten slate was released live on BTN.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa men’s basketball team released its complete 2026-27 schedule Wednesday.  The Hawkeyes’ 20-game Big Ten slate was released live on BTN.

SCHEDULE NOTES

  • Iowa will play 11 of its 12 nonconference games inside the Iowa border, hosting nine home games and three neutral site contests.
  • The Hawkeyes will play three neutral site games, facing Virginia Tech in Sioux City on Nov. 10, Creighton in Des Moines on Nov. 15 and Alabama in Des Moines on Dec. 21.
  • Iowa’s lone nonconference road game will be at Xavier on Nov. 20. 
  • The Hawkeyes will open Big Ten play at Purdue on Dec. 1 before hosting Indiana on Dec. 7 in Iowa City.  It is the third time since 2021-22 season that Iowa opens league play in West Lafayette, and it will be the earliest meeting against the Hoosiers since the 2017-18 campaign.
  • The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series matchup against Iowa State will be played on Dec. 10 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
  • Iowa will play 18 games in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and 21 total games in the state of Iowa during the regular season.
  • In January, Iowa will play its first three games at home, facing Ohio State (Jan. 2), Wisconsin (Jan. 6) and Maryland (Jan. 9).  The team will also have back-to-back home games during its final homestand – Minnesota (Feb. 27) and Washington (March 2).
  • The Hawkeyes will play back-to-back league road games three times during the regular season, traveling to Rutgers (Jan. 12) and Nebraska (Jan. 16), USC (Feb. 3) and UCLA (Feb. 6) and Michigan (Feb. 20) and Wisconsin (Feb. 24).
  • Iowa will play two of its final three games at home.  The regular season finale will be at Illinois on March 6.  It is the fourth time since 2020 that the two teams have squared off in the finale and it is the third time in that span that the game will be played in Champaign.
  • The Hawkeyes will conclude the regular season on Saturday, March 6.  It is the first time since 2015 that Iowa won’t play its finale on a Sunday.
  • Iowa will play five Saturday Big Ten home games, including four in January, and a total of seven weekend home contests in 2026-27.
  • The Big Ten Tournament will be held March 9-14 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. All 18 teams will qualify for the tournament.

Ben McCollum, who is entering his second season as the program’s head coach, returns three starters and 11 letterwinners from a team that went 24-13 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight a season ago.

The Hawkeyes also welcome four newcomers to the roster, including St. Mary’s transfer Andrew McKeever and Illinois State transfer Ty’Reek Coleman.
