Kristinsdottir Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s golfer Eva Kristinsdottir has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Thursday. It is the first weekly honor of her career and the first for the women's golf team this season.

Kristinsdottir earned the distinction following a tie for fifth at the Badger Invitational on Sept. 13-15 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. She finished at even par with a 54-hole total of 216 (69-76-71).

The Reykjavik, Iceland, native opened the tournament with a 3-under-par 69 before closing with a 1-under-par 71. Kristinsdottir posted two under-par rounds and earned the first top-five finish of her collegiate career.

Kristinsdottir helped the Hawkeyes finish fourth in the 16-team field with a 54-hole total of 878 (289-297-292).

Kristinsdottir is the first Hawkeye in program history to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, as the award was introduced during the 2025-26 season. She is Iowa’s first Big Ten weekly honoree since Riley Lewis was named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week on March 8, 2023.

Iowa returns to action Sept. 28-29 when it hosts the Diane Thomason Invitational at Davenport Country Club in Davenport, Iowa.
