Carnegie, Team USA Win Gold at FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s basketball guard Dani Carnegie helped the United States capture the gold medal at the 2026 FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup on Saturday in Wuhan, China.

Team USA defeated Canada, 15-10, in the championship game to claim its second women's FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup title, capping a tournament in which it won all six games it played on the court. The United States’ scheduled pool-play game against Australia was not played due to court conditions.

Carnegie made an impact throughout the United States’ run to gold. She grabbed four offensive rebounds in a 16-14 opening victory over Japan before scoring seven points and connecting on three 2-pointers in a 21-8 win over Slovenia.

In the knockout stage, Carnegie led Team USA with eight points in a 21-17 quarterfinal victory over the Netherlands. She followed with six points in the semifinals, helping the United States defeat Spain, 21-16, to advance to the gold medal game.

Carnegie added five points and four rebounds in the 15-10 championship victory over Canada.

The gold medal caps a successful summer with USA Basketball for Carnegie. She helped the United States win the 2026 FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas North Conference in July in Ñuñoa, Chile, securing a berth in the U23 World Cup. Carnegie also competed at the USA Basketball 3X Showcase in May, helping Team Phoenix claim the tournament title.

Carnegie joined the Hawkeyes this offseason after earning unanimous First Team All-SEC honors at Georgia in 2025-26. She averaged 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 32 games for the Bulldogs. As a freshman at Georgia Tech in 2024-25, Carnegie was named ACC Sixth Player of the Year and earned All-ACC Freshman Team honors.
