IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No.18-ranked University of Iowa football team closed out nonconference play with a dominating 55-0 victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
The Hawkeyes racked 640 yards of total offense and 32 first downs, while holding the Panthers to 155 yards and nine first downs.
Fourth-year quarterback Hank Brown paced Iowa through the air, completing all 12 of his attempts for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Third-year Jeremy Hecklinski was 6-of-11 for 65 yards.
Iowa’s rushing attack featured three 100-yard rushers, totaling 422 yards on the ground -- a total that ranks seventh all-time in program history. Third-year Xavier Williams led the way with 151 yards and three touchdowns on six carries. Second-year Braeden Jackson had 125 yards and a touchdown and second-year Nathan McNeil rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Second-year O’Lante Dean also contributed 46 rushing yards.
McNeil and second-year Evan James led the Hawkeyes in receiving. McNeil recorded three receptions for 37 yards, while James hauled in three passes for 35 yards.
Defensively, third-year Cam Buffington led Iowa with six total tackles, including two tackles for loss. Second-year Jacob Wallace and third-year Rashad Godfrey, Jr., each recorded their first career interceptions.
