McCarty Tied for 1st at Bluejay Invitational

OMAHA, Neb. — Third-year Jack McCarty fired a career-low seven-under par 65 during the opening round of the Bluejay Invitational on Monday at Shadow Ridge Country Club.

The Solon, Iowa, native carded seven birdies and finished the remaining 11 holes at par to record his career-low round. He followed with a two-over 74 in the second round, bringing his 36-hole total to five-under-par, tying him for first place with Creighton’s Owen Price.

McCarty’s previous career-low round came at last year’s Bluejay Invitational.

Behind McCarty, first-year Joey Scott is tied for 16th at three-over-par. Scott carded a 71 in the opening round before five bogeys in the second round brought him to three-over-par for the day.

First-year Cody Weaver is tied for 35th at 11-over-par after carding a six-over-par 77 in the first round and a five-over-par 76 in the second.

The third and final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday morning.
