Hawkeyes Defeat Missouri, 18-7

The University of Iowa baseball team defeated Missouri, 18-7, in an 18-inning fall exhibition Friday night at Taylor Stadium.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Iowa baseball team defeated Missouri, 18-7, in an 18-inning fall exhibition Friday night at Taylor Stadium.

The Hawkeyes totaled 20 hits, drew 12 walks and stole six bases while scoring 18 runs in the victory.

Offensively, Wrigley Matthys and Garrett Luett paced the Hawkeyes with three hits apiece, while Aaron Holland reached base four times and finished with three RBIs. Luett drove in four runs, and Sawyer Stein recorded two doubles and three RBIs. Jaylen Ziegler added two hits and a stolen base, while Max Burt also had a multi-hit performance. Tate Slagle doubled and drove in two runs.

On the mound, Iowa used 15 pitchers and combined for 28 strikeouts over 18 innings while limiting Missouri to 10 hits. Carter Wilcox led the staff with four strikeouts over two hitless innings. Maddux Frese, Ryan Stedman, Beau Leisure and Ty Mikkelsen each recorded three strikeouts, while five other Hawkeyes had multiple strikeouts.
