Hawkeyes Fall 3-1 at No. 8 Ohio State

The University of Iowa women’s soccer team fell to No. 8 Ohio State, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team fell to No. 8 Ohio State, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Iowa falls to 5-3-4 overall and 0-2-3 in Big Ten play, while Ohio State improves to 8-1-1 overall and 4-1-0 in conference play.

The Hawkeyes struck first in the 37th minute when Sara Batchadji found the back of the net off a Berit Parten corner kick.

Iowa took a 1-0 lead into the break. The Hawkeyes recorded eight shots in the opening 45 minutes, including four on goal. Defensively, Iowa held Ohio State to four shots, none of which were on goal.

Ohio State’s Amanda Schlueter scored the equalizer in the 64th minute before giving the Buckeyes the lead with her second goal in the 67th minute.

The Buckeyes extended their advantage in the 71st minute when Jadin Bonham converted a penalty kick to make it 3-1.

Iowa was unable to rally, ultimately falling, 3-1.
