Johannsen, Tjoa in Top 10 at ANF Fall Classic

RIVERSIDE, Iowa — First-year Andrew Johannsen and fourth-year Maxwell Tjoa both sit in the top 10 through 34 holes at the ANF Fall Classic at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course. 

Play was halted before the round was complete due to darkness.

Johannsen led paced the Hawkeyes in the first round with a four-under-par 68. An eagle on the par-five 12th and five birdies gave the newcomer a strong start and he is currently in a tie for seventh place with a four-under par 136 with one hole to play.

Tjoa opened the tournament with a one-under par 71 before shaving two more shots off his second round total. He had five birdies during his second round as he moved into a tie for seventh with a 140.

As a team, Iowa sits at three-under par after firing rounds of 359 and 354, sitting 14 shots off South Dakota’s lead. The Coyotes are currently 17-under par.

The tournament is a play six, count five format.

First-year Joey Scott, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 16th with a one-under par 141 (72-71), while third-year Ryan Shellberg is tied for 18th with an even par 144 (71-73).

Play will resume Wednesday with the remainder of the second round beginning at 9 a.m. (CT) followed immediately by the final round.
