IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s golfer Eva Kristinsdottir has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Thursday. It is her second weekly honor of the season.
The Mosfellsbær, Iceland, native tied for eighth at the Diane Thomason Invitational on Sept. 28-29 at Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. She finished with a 54-hole total of 222 (74-73-75), recording her second consecutive top-10 finish.
Her performance helped the Hawkeyes claim the team title with a 54-hole total of 878 (293-295-290). Iowa finished 13 strokes ahead of runner-up Missouri State to win its third consecutive Diane Thomason Invitational title and fifth overall.
Earlier this season, Kristinsdottir earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on Sept. 17 following a tie for fifth at the Badger Invitational. She is the first Hawkeye in program history to earn the honor and the first to receive it multiple times. The award was introduced during the 2025-26 season.
