IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s golf team returns to action Oct. 12-13 at the Illinois Women’s Invitational at Medinah at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill.
THIS WEEK
The Hawkeyes will compete in the 54-hole Illinois Women’s Invitational at Medinah on Oct. 12-13 at Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 2.
The tournament will begin Monday with an 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start, with teams playing 36 holes of continuous play. Tuesday’s final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup will feature Maura Peters, Ximena Benites, Eva Kristinsdottir, Sunny Wang and Paige Giovenco.
THE FIELD
The 15-team field includes host Illinois, UC Irvine, UCF, Charleston, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Rice, TCU, Texas Tech and Wisconsin.
THE COURSE
Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 2 will play as a par 72 at 6,166 yards for the Illinois Women’s Invitational at Medinah.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hawkeyes are coming off a first-place finish at the Diane Thomason Invitational on Sept. 28-29 at Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Iowa finished with a 54-hole total of 878 (293-295-290), claiming its fifth title at the event and third consecutive championship.
Maura Peters and Ximena Benites paced Iowa’s lineup, tying for third with matching 4-over-par totals of 217. Benites posted rounds of 71-76-70, while Peters finished 76-70-71.
Paige Giovenco finished seventh as an individual with a 7-over-par 220 (78-70-72), while Eva Kristinsdottir and Sunny Wang tied for eighth at 222 (+9).
OF NOTE
- Iowa enters the tournament following its first team victory of the 2026-27 season. The Hawkeyes claimed their third consecutive Diane Thomason Invitational title and fifth overall, finishing 13 strokes ahead of runner-up Missouri State.
- Peters and Benites recorded career-best finishes at the Diane Thomason Invitational, tying for third at 4-over-par 217.
- Five Hawkeyes earned Diane Thomason Invitational All-Tournament Team honors: Benites, Peters, Giovenco, Kristinsdottir and Wang.
- Kristinsdottir has earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors twice this season following consecutive top-10 finishes.
