Kristinsdottir Earns 3rd Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honor

Kristinsdottir earns third weekly honor after breaking two school records at Illini Women’s Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s golfer Eva Kristinsdottir has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Thursday. It is her third weekly honor of the season.

The Mosfellsbær, Iceland, native earned the distinction following a record-breaking performance at the Illini Women’s Invitational on Oct. 12-13 at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois. Kristinsdottir finished seventh individually with an 8-under-par 208 (66-69-73), breaking Iowa’s 54-hole scoring record.

Kristinsdottir also set the program’s 36-hole scoring record with a 9-under-par 135 and tied the 18-hole school record with an opening-round 6-under-par 66. Her 54-hole total surpassed the previous record of 209 shared by Madison Dabagia and Paula Miranda.

The freshman has recorded three consecutive top-10 finishes this season, tying for fifth at the Badger Invitational, tying for eighth at the Diane Thomason Invitational and placing seventh at Medinah.

Kristinsdottir previously earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on Sept. 17 and Oct. 1. She becomes the first Iowa women's golfer in program history to earn three Big Ten weekly honors in a single season. She is also the first Hawkeye to receive the Freshman of the Week award three times since its introduction in 2025-26.
