Hawkeyes Complete Day 2 at ITA Regional Championships

Memphis, Tenn. – The University of Iowa Women’s Tennis team continued on Friday at the ITA Regional Championships.

In singles main draw action, Mia Soso dropped a tough two set match against Kansas’s Kyoka Kuba, 6-4, 6-1. Emma Tothová had a strong performance defeating UMKC’s Luciana Braga in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. Emerey Gross, who moved onto the main draw following a pair of qualifying wins yesterday, forced a three-set match against Missouri’s Danielle Dai Chapman but eventually fell 7(8)-6(6), 2-6, 6-1.

In doubles Ida Clement and Tothová faced Iowa State’s Stanislava Shulzhenko and Julia Camblor, dropping an 8-3 match. Gross and Soso had a close match against Kansas’s Kyoka Kuba and Polina Koneva but ultimately fell 8-6.

The Hawkeyes will return to the court tomorrow and continue with singles and doubles competition.
