IOWA CITY, Iowa — Two University of Iowa women’s soccer student-athletes, fourth-year Millie Greer and first-year Braelynn Galt, have earned Big Ten weekly honors. Greer was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, while Galt earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week recognition.
Greer becomes the 10th different Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors and the first since Samantha Cary earned the award on Oct. 3, 2023. Greer played all 180 minutes in Iowa’s victories over No. 10 UCLA and USC.
The Hawkeyes opened the weekend with a 1-0 upset of No. 10 UCLA on Thursday, recording their eighth shutout of the season. Greer played a key role in an Iowa backline that held the Bruins scoreless, helping the Hawkeyes earn their first top-10 victory since defeating No. 6 Arkansas on Aug. 14, 2025, and snapped UCLA’s seven-game unbeaten streak.
Greer continued to anchor the Hawkeye defense in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over USC, helping limit the Trojans to six shots on goal, including just one in the second half.
Galt becomes the 11th different Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors and the first since Liana Tarasco received the award on Aug. 19, 2025. The goalkeeper played all 180 minutes across Iowa’s two victories, recording 10 saves.
Against the Bruins, Galt recorded five saves en route to her eighth shutout of the season. She followed that performance with five additional saves against USC.
The victories marked Iowa’s first-ever wins over UCLA and USC.
