NEWTON, Kan. – Former University of Iowa men’s golfer Alex Schaake advanced to Stage 2 of the 2026 PGA Tour Q-School with his performance at Sand Creek Station Golf Club.

Schaake, who competed for the Hawkeyes from 2016-21, finished in a tie for 10th place with a 72-hole total of 278.  He opened the tournament with a two-under 70 and one-under 71 before posting a five-under par 67 during Round 3.

During Friday’s final round, the Omaha, Nebraska, native carded a two-under par 70 to punch his ticket to Stage 2.  The top 17 finishers, including ties, moved on.

Schaake will play in a Stage 2 72-hole stroke play tournament at a regional site from Dec. 1-4.  He will compete in one of five sites in California, Arizona, Florida, Georgia or Alabama.

Schaake has advanced to Stage 2 of PGA Tour Q-School multiple times in his professional career.  His best run came in late 2023 when he advanced to the Final Stage, earning him conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour.

As a Hawkeye, Schaake set the program’s top single-season scoring average and he became the program’s only two-time Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Year.
