Hawkeyes Conclude Hoosier Invitational

Bloomington, Ind. – The University of Iowa Women’s Tennis team wrapped up competition at the Hoosier Invitational on Sunday, competing in singles and doubles matches at the IU Tennis Center.

In singles action, Ida Clement picked up her first win as a Hawkeye, beating Ball State’s Gabriella Barrera, 6-3, 6-3. Emma Tothová dropped a competitive two-set match to Louisville’s Elena Noguero, 6-4, 7-6 (5), while Sally Xu forced a third set against Ball State’s Priyanka Rana before falling, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5. Emerey Gross defeated Miami (OH)’s Zara Darken, 6-3, ret., and Clare Schaefer fell to Miami (OH)’s Maria Komar, 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles play, Clement and Xu had a competitive match against Ball State’s Priyanka Rana and Sydney Hrehor before eventually falling, 6-4. Tothová and Gross defeated Indiana’s Chase Boyer and Li Hsin Lin, 6-4, capturing their third consecutive victory to win their draw.

The Hawkeyes will return to action at the ITA Regionals in Memphis, Tennessee, from Oct. 15-19.
