IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa second-year punter Boston Everitt has been named to the 2026 Ray Guy Award Midseason Watch List, which recognizes the nation’s top collegiate punter, the Augusta Sports Council announced Thursday.
Everitt is averaging 43.7 yards on 36 punts through his first eight games as a Hawkeye, ranking 37th nationally and sixth in the Big Ten in punting average. A native of New Hope, Australia, Everitt has placed 21 punts inside the 20-yard line—including four against Iowa State. He has forced 13 fair catches and sent seven punts 50 yards or further, highlighted by a career-long 60-yard boot at Minnesota.
Established in 2000, the Ray Guy Award is named after College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Ray Guy. Former Hawkeye standout Tory Taylor won the prestigious award in 2023, while Ryan Donahue was named a finalist in 2010.
A national voting body consisting of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, media representatives, and previous Ray Guy Award winners will select the top three finalists, who will be announced on Nov. 22. Following the announcement of the finalists, the voting body will cast final ballots to determine the nation's top punter.
The No. 21 Hawkeyes (6-2, 3-2) return to action Saturday, traveling to Evanston to face Northwestern (6-2, 3-2). Kickoff is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. (CT).
