The University of Iowa, in partnership with the Iowa City Area Sports Commission, will welcome the professional exhibition baseball team Savannah Bananas on July 3-4, 2026, at Kinnick Stadium. Both games will start at 7 p.m. (CT).

The Savannah Bananas have their own version of baseball called Banana Ball, which includes on-field antics like choreographed dances, crazy rules, trick plays, fun props and constant crowd interaction to keep fans engaged.

Main stand tickets to this outdoor event will be sold through the Savannah Bananas and its ticketing platform. Fans interested in obtaining tickets to the event are encouraged to join the ticket lottery before it closes at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Oct. 31, 2025. Joining the list does not guarantee the opportunity to buy tickets. A random drawing will take place before the event for the chance to purchase available tickets. If selected, fans will have an opportunity to continue through the verification process.

Kinnick is more than a stadium, it is a stage for unforgettable moments. From hosting the first outdoor wrestling meet in NCAA history, to welcoming record-breaking crowds for an outdoor women’s basketball game, our venue has long been a place where tradition meets innovation. We believe the Savannah Bananas’ unique brand of baseball and entertainment will be a perfect addition to that legacy.

One of the most meaningful aspects of hosting this event at Kinnick is the proximity to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The tradition of “The Wave” -- where 70,000 fans turn to wave to the children watching from the hospital’s upper floors -- is one of the most beloved moments in college sports. We are thrilled to incorporate this powerful gesture into the Bananas’ visit, creating a moment of joy and connection for patients and families who inspire us every day.

Any person buying tickets except from the UI Athletic Ticket Office, or through SeatGeek, the official secondary marketplace of the Iowa Hawkeyes, does so at their own risk.

The University of Iowa Police Department is urging Hawkeye fans to be aware of common ticket scams and use SeatGeek, the official ticketing partner, as the season progresses.

Most scams reported so far this season have occurred through social media websites and instant messaging platforms.

The excitement of football season should never come at the cost of your hard-earned money and safety. Keep these tips in mind when securing tickets to avoid getting scammed:

  • Buy from official sources. Purchase your tickets from the university's official ticket office, or this year's official ticketing partner, SeatGeek. Every ticket sold on SeatGeek for Iowa Football home games is verified and trusted, and all tickets sold are backed by SeatGeek's Buyer Guarantee.
  • Be wary of social media sales. Avoid buying tickets from people you don't know on social media websites or messaging apps. Scammers often create fake profiles on these platforms using fraudulent photos to advertise available tickets that do not exist.
  • Spot the signs of a scam. Scammers typically tell you to pay in a specific way. They may insist you buy gift cards, wire money, use cryptocurrency, or request payment in other ways than through a bank or credit card account (such as Venmo or Zelle). They also typically pressure you to act fast before you have time to think about their request and suspect something fishy.
  • Check ticket prices.

If you aren't buying from an official source, research the average price for a ticket to the game you'd like to attend. If a seller is offering a ticket price that's too good to be true, it probably is.

  • Don't share sensitive information with strangers. Never share a photo of your student ID, driver's license, or payment cards with a stranger, even if it's to "verify" your identity. It could be used to steal your identity or perpetuate a scam using your name and likeness.
  • Meet in person and pay securely. Arrange to meet in a public place to exchange tickets and payment. This reduces the risk of getting scammed online. Bring a friend along for added security or consider making the exchange near a local law enforcement agency.
  • Report suspected scams. If you believe you may be a victim of a ticketing scam, you are strongly encouraged to report the crime to the University of Iowa Police Department by calling (319)335-5022.

All items and persons entering Kinnick Stadium are subject to security screening and inspection via a walk-through metal detector and/or a hand wand metal detector. Arrive early to avoid lines and delays getting into Kinnick Stadium. If you wait – you will be late!

Using the latest screening technologies, guests will not need to remove any items from their person as they pass through, like your wallet, keys, or phone. Unlike the airports or other venues, you have visited, you can keep everything on you. Your wristlet or clutch will also be carried right through the metal detector. Remember, we have a Clear Bag Policy at Kinnick Stadium.

If you alarm when passing through the metal detector, the security staff member will conduct a secondary screening using a handheld metal detector wand. If you are still alarming, a police officer may be summoned to assist with the security screening.

Guests may refuse inspections, but management reserves the right to refuse entry. Guests that are found with prohibited items are subject to the Code of Iowa and/or ejection from the stadium. Cooperation with game management and security personnel will help maintain Kinnick Stadium as a safe and secure environment for all guests.

Weapons are not permitted in the stadium. Possession of a firearm or weapon is strictly forbidden. Possession of a weapon will result in immediate confiscation, ejection and/or possible arrest.

Generally, all persons may pass through the walk-through metal detectors. The walk-through metal detectors comply with regulations relating to pacemakers, defibrillators, or other vital support systems; and are safe for pregnant women. The electromagnetic field emitted by CEIA (manufacturer of our metal detectors) devices is extremely weak, with amplitude comparable with that of the earth’s magnetic field. However, CEIA cannot exclude that this screening device may affect personal medical electronic devices, depending on their functionality or their restrictions on use. Any recommendation or directive issued by medical personnel or medical equipment manufacturers relating to electromagnetic fields must therefore be implemented. If you are unable to pass through the metal detector, let the event staff know, and they will perform an alternative screening using a hand-held metal detector wand.

Kinnick Stadium is certified as Sensory Inclusive by KultureCity! Our event staff go through sensory inclusion training on an annual basis, and we have Sensory Bags available at each Fan Services stand location. Sensory Bags contain fidget devices, noise cancelling headphones, visual cue cards, and strobe reduction glasses. Fans First stands are located near Gate B, Gate H, Gate I, and Gate M.
