2018-19 Honors — Recipient of the Jim Marshall Award. 2018-19 — Posted an NCAA “B” qualifying time in the 200 breast (1:58.06)… placed 19th at the 2019 Big Ten Championships in the 100 breast (54.44) and in the 200 breast (1:58.06), both times were career bests… moved to ninth all-time in program history in the 100 breast and fourth all-time in the 200 breast… ranked second on the team in the 100 and 200 breast.
2017-18 — Swam to NCAA “B” qualifying times and career-bests in the 100 breast (54.99) and 200 breast (1:59.37) at the Big Ten Championships… scored in the 100 breast, finishing 23rd at the Big Tens… ranked second on the team in the 100 breast and third in 200 breast.
2016-17 — Swam to collegiate-best times in 100 breast (56.05) and 200 breast (2:00.48)… had a season- best time in 200 IM (1:59.56)… ranked second on the team in 200 breast.
2015-16 — Swam season-best times in the 100 breast (56.84), 200 breast (2:07.12), 200 IM (1:57.46), and 50 free (23.03)… was fourth on the team in the 100 and 200 breast.
High School — Three-time all-state, four-time all-district, and four-time all-conference selection… broke the 34-year Iowa high school record in 100 breast as a junior… broke his own 100 breast record as a senior (56.81), finishing as the state runner-up… time is a Bettendorf school record… was third in state in 100 breast as junior… placed 10th in 100-meter breast at 2015 Speedo Sectionals in 1:04.18… posted a long course time of 2:29.77 in 200-meter breast… team captain as a senior… swam for the Lane 4 Acquatics Swim Club… high school coach was Mike Ahrens.
Personal — Born April 3, 1997… son of Brian and Debi Nelson… has two older siblings, Brianna Koseck and Rhenn Atwell… majoring in psychology.
