Hawk Items — Iowa Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President… received one of the 2020 Robert F. Ray Faculty Representative Awards… earned the Presidential Committee on Athletics (PCA) Medallion three times… a five-time Dean’s List honoree… Big Ten Distinguished Scholar… two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree… an International Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete… Male Hawkeye of the Year recipient at the 2018 Golden Herkys… one of two University of Iowa’s recipients of the annual Big Ten Conference Postgraduate Scholarship in 2020… following graduation, Kerst will attend the University of South Carolina (on a full academic scholarship), where he will earn an MBA with career aspirations in Athletics Administration… earned one point on the ITF World Tennis Tour in the Summer of 2019.

Spring 2021 — Saw majority of action at No. 5 and No. 6 in the singles lineup… competed in 17 singles and three doubles matches… recorded singles victories over Purdue, Wisconsin, and Michigan State… letterwinner.

Spring 2020 — Won six singles matches, including boasting a 3-1 record playing No. 6, before the season was canceled by the Big Ten Conference and NCAA on March 12, due to concerns of coronavirus (COVID-19)… letterwinner.

Fall 2019 — Earned Dean’s List recognition… competed in three singles matches and one doubles match.

Spring 2019 — Won a career-high six singles matches on court six, including winning his last three decisions… Dean’s List honoree… Big Ten Distinguished Scholar… letterwinner.

Fall 2018 — Won seven matches, including a run of four straight in October… advanced to the Round of 32 at the Big Ten Singles Championships… won three doubles matches.

Spring 2018 — Academic All-Big Ten honoree… won all four singles matches and won only doubles match with partner Josh Silverstein… won Male Hawkeye of the Year… letterwinner.

Fall 2017 — Won three singles matches and competed in two doubles matches.

Spring 2017 — Went 5-5 in singles action at No. 6… played once at No. 4, losing to player on second-ranked Ohio State… won three of his final four singles matches of the season, including wins over players from Butler and Michigan State — both team wins… split his two doubles matches, beating DePaul and falling to No. 2 Ohio State… ITA Scholar Athlete… letterwinner.

Fall 2016 — Won seven singles matches and two doubles matches… won four consecutive singles matches between Oct. 8-Oct. 20.

Junior Career — A four-star recruit from Ann Arbor, Michigan… ranked No. 2 in the state of Michigan and No. 113 nationally… competed in Super Nationals for eight years… played in ITF tournaments in Montreal and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
