#13 Abigail Gierke Season 2007-08

2007 as a Senior… Academic all-Big Ten… Started all 20 matches as a defender for the Hawkeyes… recorded two shots.

2006 as a Junior… Academic all-Big Ten… played in 19 matches with 14 starts… tallied one shot on goal against South Carolina (Aug. 27).

2005 as a Sophomore… Academic all-Big Ten… played in 13 matches with two starts… recorded first collegiate assist at Northern Iowa (Sept. 29).

2004 as a Freshman… Appeared in 13 matches… started eight matches.

High School… Four-time letterwinner… led team to three straight conference championships and four straight state tournament berths… was a part of the Des Moines Odyssey club team that won a state championship… member of the Iowa ODP team for three years… four-time state qualifier in cross country… first-team all-conference in cross country… member of the Bettendorf tennis team that won a state championship in 2000 and placed runner-up in 2001.

Personal… Born March 4, 1985… daughter of Sarah and Glen Gierke… political science major… attended Bettendorf High School and was coached by Todd Hornaday and Victor Valderrama.
