Stetson McIlravy

Stetson McIlravy is in his fourth year with the University of Iowa football program. After serving as a student manager in 2023, a student assistant coach with the special teams unit in 2024, and a special teams assistant in 2025, he takes on the role of analyst/special teams in 2026.

The Hawkeyes won 27 games the last three seasons, including 10 and capturing the Big Ten West Division in 2023. Iowa earned berths to the Citrus and Music City bowls after the 2023 and 2024 seasons, respectively, and finished 2023 ranked No. 24 nationally. The Hawkeyes won nine games in 2025, including a 34-27 triumph over No. 14 Vanderbilt in the ReliaQuest Bowl, and finished the year ranked No. 17 in the final AP Poll.

Iowa’s special teams have performed at a high level over the last three seasons with McIlravy on staff. Return specialist and consensus All-American Kaden Wetjen became the first player to win the Jet Award in back-to-back seasons after leading the country in combined kick return yardage in 2024 and 2025. A two-time Rodgers-Dwight Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year, Wetjen averaged 26.8 yards per punt return in 2025 to establish a new NCAA benchmark. He is the only player in Big Ten history to record three punt return touchdowns and a kick return touchdown in the same season (2025), and the only player in the country to log both a kickoff and punt return touchdown in both 2024 and 2025. Wetjen also became the first Hawkeye to score four different ways in a career (rushing, receiving, kickoff return, and punt return).

Kicker Drew Stevens (2022-25) broke the school record for most career field goals (76) and number of field goals made over 50 yards (12). He finished his collegiate career with four game-winning field goals. Stevens also etched his name in the record book by converting a 58-yard field goal against Oregon in 2025 to tie the Iowa and Kinnick Stadium records.

Iowa’s kickoff return defense has ranked in the top 10 nationally in two of the last three seasons, including sixth in 2025 (15.08 yards per return) and eighth in 2023 (15.57).

McIlravy served as the men’s golf team captain at Southwestern Community College (SCC) from 2021-23, where he was a two-time NJCAA Region XI Student-Athlete Advisory Council nominee, a two-time member of the NJCAA Student-Athlete Council, and an SCC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member.

McIlravy graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in health studies from the University of Iowa in 2025 and an associate of arts degree from SCC in 2023. A native of Solon, Iowa, he is a four-year Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member.

McIlravy is married to Camryn. His father, Lincoln, was a four-time All-American and three-time NCAA and Big Ten Champion for the University of Iowa wrestling team (1993-97).
