Ann Arbor, MI – Despite an 8-4 advantage in shots and 5-0 edge in penalty corners in the second half, the Iowa field hockey team was unable to rebound from a 3-1 halftime deficit, losing to North Carolina by the same score. The loss drops the Hawkeyes to 0-2 on the season while UNC improves to 2-0.
Two goals in the first 5:22 of action gave the Tar Heels a lead they would never lose, although Iowa managed to edge within one as Erica Houck tallied for the Hawkeyes. UNC struck again just before the half for the 3-1 bulge they would never lose. Barbara Weinberg made six saves in the losing effort for Iowa.
