The Iowa women’s tennis team defeated the Purdue Boilermakers, 5-2, Saturday afternoon. The Hawkeyes move to 2-0 in the Big Ten.
Iowa gained the doubles point with a win by Meg Racette and Hillary Mintz at the No. 1 spot, and a victory at the No. 3 spot by Chelsea Glynn and Hilary Tyler.
In singles, Racette defeated Gretchen Haynor, 6-2, 6-3. At the No. 2 position, Mintz recorded a win over Hala Sufi, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Glynn continued her five-match winning streak with a victory over Alyssa Rodriguez, 7-5, 7-6. Deni Alexandrova defeated Shawna Zuccarini at the No. 5 spot, 7-5, 6-2.
The Hawkeyes will compete tomorrow at Illinois beginning at 11 a.m.
