The Iowa women’s tennis team knocked off Penn State, 6-1, Sunday afternoon. The Hawkeyes improve to 12-8 overall, 5-5 in the Big Ten.
Iowa dominated the singles competition, taking every match and allowing the Nittany Lions only one set. At the No. 1 singles spot, Meg Racette defeated Leigh Ann Merryman, 6-3 6-2. Hillary Mintz won against Maaria Husain, 6-1, 7-6 (2). At the No. 3 spot, Chelsea Glynn won against Sarah Spence, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
In doubles, Racette and Mintz won a close match against Megan Marton and Merryman, 9-8 (6). Penn State took matches at the No. 2 and 3 doubles spots, earning the doubles point.
The Hawkeyes will compete next when they travel to the Big Ten tournament April 29 – May 2. The tournament will be held at Northwestern.
